MODELSIM SE VS MODELSIM PE SIMULATOR
Under Tools -> Options -> HDL Simulator Option, I only See ModelSim Altera.
The problem is that some googling shows that it should be trivially installable/usable under Wine and it actually does work as expected under Xubuntu 14.04 (install, run, done). I have generated an SOPC system and would like to simulate using ModelSim PE rather than ModelSim Altera but am running into some issues (Note: I have both versions installed and they are both properly licensed.): 1. The program installs with no errors but does not start. To enable this parameter, set I/O Mode to Output. Hi all, Ive been trying to run Modelsim (free student edition is windows only) under Wine with no success. The width is always inherited from the HDL simulator. Now you can run a co-simulation between Modelsim and Simulink by pressing 'Start Simulation' button in Simulink. For example, for an 8-bit output port, setting the Sign to Signed and setting the Fraction Length to 5 forces the data type to sfix8_En5.
By explicitly assigning a data type, you can force fixed-point data types on output ports of the HDL Cosimulation block. You can also assign an explicit data type, with optional Fraction Length. ModelSim PE (Personal Edition) ModelSim PE Student Edition Free editions such as and 'ModelSim XE' (shipped with Xilinx Vivado) and 'ModelSim-Intel FPGA Starter Edition' (shipped with Intel Quartus) do not have FLI enabled and are therefore not supported with HDL Verifier. As an example, if the HDL simulator returns the VHDL data type STD_LOGIC_VECTOR for a signal of size N bits, the data type ufixN is forced on the output port. If Simulink cannot determine the data type of the signal connected to the output port, it queries the HDL simulator for the data type of the port. For example, if you connect a Signal Specification block to an output, Inherit forces the data type specified by the Signal Specification block onto the output port. If they do not match, Simulink generates an error message.
